Pianist Anthony Olson has performed throughout the United States, China and Europe and has even had live recordings broadcast on National Public Radio. Active as both a soloist and a chamber musician, he explores a wide range of solo and chamber works, including new music written especially for him.
Olson has performed at Redlands Bowl Summer Music Festival, The Festival for Creative Pianists, presented recitals at Imperial College, London, Bournemouth University, the Nanjing Conservatory, China, and in recitals sponsored by a large number of local concert series and arts councils throughout the Midwest and Western states. He appeared with the Bismark/Mandan Symphony in George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue. He has had performances broadcast on Kansas Public Radio, KSCI TV, Channel 18, Los Angeles and Nanjing Broadcasting, Jiang-Shu province, China.
A dedicated educator, Dr. Anthony Olson is Professor of Music (piano, organ, and harpsichord) at Northwest Missouri State University. He has also taught as a guest professor at Imperial College, London, Kyunbuk University, South Korea, and the Roosevelt Academy, in The Netherlands.
Olson has presented lectures at conferences of the European Piano Teachers Association, World Piano Association, MTNA’s national conference, and the College Music Society. He has published articles in the Piano Journal, American Music Teacher, Clavier Companion, and Classical Singer Magazine.
He studied at the University of Southern California, the University of Texas at Austin, the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities, and the University of North Dakota. His primary teachers include Daniel Pollack, Arthur Houle and Greg Allen.
